Cityscape Daydreams Come to Life Through Captivating Composite Photos

Andrea Costantini's photo manipulations depict daydream thought bubbles by blending head shots with images of architecture and cityscapes. The Washington D.C.-based illustrator captures human subjects displaying thoughtful expressions as photos of picturesque streets and buildings hover over or extend out of their heads. The series, titled Where Is My Mind, seems to capture the essence of daydreaming about faraway places with promising potential, or dwelling on the deluge of daily responsibilities in a bustling metropolis.

Mirrored Suitcase Reflects Captivating City Scenes

Photographer Rui Calada Bastos used a mirrored suitcase as the main focus to develop this engaging series, entitled The Mirror Suitcase Man, where images overlap in complex arrangements. Using light and reflections, Calada Bastos captured moments in which a man carries a suitcase across a fragmented scene. The unique black and white project not only presents visually interesting compositions, but also offers viewers a small glimpse into the space behind the camera.

San Francisco Cityscapes Reflected in Fragmented Puddles

At first glance, these fantastic photographs are a bit surreal. For the series, produced for The Bold Italic, photographer Angela May Chen turns everything upside-down in order to portray the city of San Francisco from unique angles–each cityscape is taken as a reflection in a puddle. By focusing on the ground rather than the horizon, Chen transforms the architecture, bridges, and sidewalks into magical objects that are, at first, a bit confusing to decipher.
