New York City is widely recognized as one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the world. It's fascinating to see the rapid evolution of its skyline from 1879 to 2013, when One World Trade Center will be complete. Within that long time frame, the city has lived through many transformative events, including the Great Depression in the 30's and September 11th in 2001.

Pep Ventosa gives our cities' trees the attention they deserve in this beautiful series he calls In the Round – Trees. Though they first appear like impressionist paintings, you'd be surprised to find out that they're actually dozens of photographs of the same tree merged into one. Maddie the Coonhound Standing On Things (Part 2)

Earlier this year, we instantly fell in love with Maddie the coonhound as she modeled for her owner, photographer Theron Humphrey, in strange and unusual places. The project, Maddie on Things, features the very photogenic dog standing underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, precariously balanced between the doors of a refrigerator, topping off a large stack of colorful suitcases, and much, much more.
