A year ago, photographer Jesse Holland‘s parents gave her baby daughter a hat as a present. On a whim, the Victoria, British Columbia-based mom photographed her daughter and her dog wearing the same hat, and a new photo series was born.
Putting a new spin on the “who wore it better?” concept, Holland regularly captures portraits of her 2-year-old toddler and her 5-year-old Boston Terrier on their adventures together. Whether the duo is exploring the great outdoors, reading a book, or lounging in bed, each diptych shows them in a similar pose, in the same setting, and sharing identical clothes and accessories. Not only is the sweet project a fun way to engage with both child and dog, but it also serves as a precious documentation of the pair as they grow older and bigger together. According to Holland, “The baby is now a full-on kid and the dog tolerates being dressed up much better now.”
The endearing series, which Holland pursued as a 100 Days challenge, concluded earlier today as the photographer posted her 100th diptych, but she says she'll continue to add to the project on a semi-regular basis.
