Creative Couple Eats Perfectly Symmetrical Breakfasts Every Morning

Every morning, Michael Zee and Mark van Beek eat matching breakfasts, and they've cooked up a beautifully symmetrical Instagram account based on the meals. Zee is the chef and photographer who arranges the dishes and snaps daily, high-angle photos for his account, @symmetrybreakfast.

Some of the meals are homemade at the couple's East London apartment; others are bought at restaurants. Even traveling doesn't interrupt the symmetry breakfasts. Zee diligently posted photos of mirror-image meals throughout recent excursions in France, Italy and Japan. Regardless of what continent they're posted from, the photos offer a delightful sense of order. They also show off whimsical kitchenware and present picturesque serving suggestions for food aficionados.

Although the photos come across as effortless, they take a great deal of patience and dedication to capture. Some of the challenges while traveling include hunting down locations that have good food as well as good lighting. At home, Zee sometimes uses studio lights in the dining room to set up the perfect shot. “I have learned that anything can be breakfast,” Zee says. “Not everyone eats toast or cereal, and I really want to reflect that.”
