Most Magical Photos of Insects

In all my years of writing for My Modern Met, I never thought I would put the words “magical” and “insects” together in a title but, then again, I've never seen macro insect photography quite like this. (On a related note, I'll never look grasshoppers or slugs the same way again.)

Nadav Bagim (aka AimishBoy) is an Israel-based 30-year-old student who has created a beautiful series called Wonderland using insects he found in his apartment or on plants outside his window. He then took ordinary objects, like vegetables and plastic bags, and used them as props while setting up some “rather simple and elegant artificial lighting.” The result? Bokeh-filled fantasylands that look like something out of a childhood storybook or a Disney/Pixar movie.

Bagim proudly states on his website that his photos were all taken in camera (Canon EOS 60D Camera and a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens and flashes) and without the help of any digital manipulation tools (which means no Photoshop). Amazing!

P.S. Did you notice the dancing bee?
