Ocean-Inspired Ceramic Sculptures Resemble Cresting Waves

Like artists Paul DeSomma and Marsha Blaker, Denise Romecki finds inspiration for her sculptures in cresting waves. The big difference is that, while DeSomma and Blaker work with glass, Romecki creates her original pieces using stoneware clay. Requiring at least two kiln firings, her ceramic sculptures resemble beautifully rising white-capped waves that have been stunningly frozen in time.

Artist Creates Strikingly Complex Fusions of Photos and Drawings

Paris-based artist Bertrand Flachot fuses photography and drawing in his collection of beautifully complex landscapes. Artworks featuring cities, mountains, and rolling hills begin as colorful photos that are then drawn over with the fluid marks of a pen. It's reminiscent of something you'd find in a sketchbook as Flachot includes lines and objects that weren't in the original photographs. With these handcrafted additions, the artist is creating similar-feeling, yet entirely different locales.
