Unique Ultraviolet Portraits Reveal Beauty within Flaws

Brooklyn-based photographer Cara Phillips developed this intriguing portrait project that uses ultraviolet light to reveal every tiny little imperfection across a person's face. To produce the black and white series, the artist set up on the streets of New York with a sign that said “Free Portraits.” Any willing participants agreed to sit down right there and have their photo taken underneath a UV light.

Built just outside of Los Angeles, the Car Park House by Anonymous takes a traditional home layout and literally flips it upside down. While many homes across the country feature garages adjacent or below the main structure of a residence, parking spots for occupants of this house are found above it all, on the roof.

Giant Boulder Rolls Downhill and Crashes Through Barn. Incredibly, Another One Stops Inches Short of Home

On January 21st, a giant boulder was set loose from a mountain in northern Italy by a landslide and proceeded to rip through a 350-year-old stone barn in Ronchi di Termeno (Tarmin). Though no one in the four-person family was physically injured in the natural disaster, the owner of the house and accompanying vineyard, Trebo Herbert, has been left with tremendous damage to his property.

Old Shipping Crate Converted Into Sustainable Guest House

Old shipping containers can be an eyesore but not when they are transformed into contemporary, functional living spaces. Texas-based firm Poteet Architects, a company that strives to continue a sustainable revitalization of downtown San Antonio, recently developed this Container Guest House using an old blue storage container and some innovative design ideas. The large 8 by 40-foot interior has been converted from an old steel box into adorable lodging for guests.
