Most Incredible Sculptures of AfrikaBurn 2013

AfrikaBurn is an annual event held in the deserts of the Tankwa Karoo in South Africa that invites artists to display their work and then eventually light it up in a blaze of glory, in true Burning Man fashion. The regional event, which most recently hosted approximately 6,500 people, follows the same eleven guiding principles as Nevada's famed Burning Man festival, encouraging “communal effort, decommodification and total expression of the self.

Incredible Timelapse Videos Illustrate Birds in Motion

Through amazing digital editing techniques, American artist and professor Dennis Hlynsky turns an average video of flying birds into a surreal experience of shapes forming overhead. The Rhode Island-based artist first films the movements of various animals that swim, crawl, and fly in spectacular formations. He then selectively stacks frames together to visually convey the long trails of motion.

Librarians Show Off Their Risqu Side Through Tattoos

Last fall, the Rhode Island Library Association (RILA) launched their first-ever Tattooed Librarians of the Ocean State 2014 calendar. Proving that librarians aren't just strict, buttoned-up middle aged women, this calendar features 12 librarian and library workers who are proud of their jobs and of their rebellious ink. Each photograph captures the models showing off not only their love of books, but highlights their tattoos as well.
