Playful Minimalist Posters Depict Classic Movie Characters

Art director, illustrator, and graphic designer Olaf Cuadras created a series of playful movie posters that transform each story into minimalist designs. In the series, simply called Minimal Movie Posters, the Barcelona-based artist developed concepts for some classics including The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, and Terminator 2.

Since 1986, Arte Sella has sprinkled the open fields and woods of the Sella Valley in Trento, Italy with storybook-style land art. Over 200 contemporary artists from all around the world, including South Africa, Israel, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan, have come to this area to create original artworks using materials found right on the land.

Shaping Fire Into Artistic Forms

Rob Prideaux has created a fantastic series entitled Smoke & Fire. The body of work originated after Prideaux was unable to find a suitable fire image for a project he was working on. Each of his scenes features bright bursts of fire captured against a stark white background. The photos were taken in the split second they were visible before vanishing, and then were slightly touched up.

Artist Cuts into Cardboard to Create Old Hollywood Portraits

Rather than simply throwing away a cardboard box, artist Giles Oldershaw redesigns the discarded packaging he comes across as creative, layered portraits. By carving and tearing away at the material, Oldershaw exposes the ribbed texture sealed within.
