Amazingly Detailed Portraits Formed From Leftover Trash

American artist Zac Freeman forms unique portraits out of all kinds of small and used materials. Each of his objects comes from scraps of trash that are leftover from the things that we regularly consume. From colored buttons and plastic bottle caps to metal tabs from soda cans, Freeman puts all of the unused and unwanted objects to use in a fresh new way.

Shapes of Global Cities Defined by Colorful Silhouettes

London-based designer and art director Yoni Alter developed this colorful series of posters entitled Shapes of Cities. Each unique creation features a particular city's key buildings and landmarks, clustered together and depicted in an accurate comparative scale. To develop the rainbow palette, Alter combined simple vector shapes with basic color theory.

Shimmering Mosaic of Earth Made of 1,238 Jewels

English-Chinese artist Chris Chamberlain took on the ambitious task of creating a large-scale mosaic of Earth made of hundreds of thousands of tiny, twinkling components. The varied shimmering materials include 300,000 hand-cut squares and ambiguous shapes of stained glass; 1,238 jewels totaling 260 carats; over 6,900 internal LED lights; and 80,000 pieces of glass to create the frame, which represents space.
