Stunning Self-Portraits Connect Humans to Icy Icelandic Landscapes [Interview]

For three years, Anna Isabella photographed herself among Iceland's ice caves and glaciers. The ambitious self-portrait project features her in places many of us dream of visitingโ€”chiseled ice peaks against an equally frigid backdrop. Devoid of other people and the trappings of human existence, she stands alone, looking on toward a landscape with an otherworldly appeal. Anna Isabella is the focal point of each image; but, at times, itโ€™s hard to spot her.

Photographer Uses Drones to โ€œDrawโ€ With Light in the Sky To Create Ethereal Veils and Halos in Mid-Air

Fine art photographer Reuben Wu and Fujifilm have teamed up for a creative imaging series that combines Wu's surreal nightscapes and the power of Fujifilm's new 102-megapixel fixed-lens medium-format camera. Wu's Thin Places uses the Fujifilm GFX100RF to create a masterful new series that uses lasers mounted on drones to โ€œdrawโ€ organic shapes in the sky. It's a technique that builds off of Wu's earlier Lux Noctis and Aeroglyphs, where the photographer mounted LED lights to drones.

Astrophotographer Captures Stunning 440-Megapixel Photo of the Total Lunar Eclipse

The March 14 total lunar eclipse yielded a lot of spectacular photos, but perhaps no one captured the blood moon in as much detail as astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy. Using a four-camera, three-telescope setup, he documented totality in a way that shows the rich texture of the Moon's surface and the beautiful red hue that is projected onto its surface.

Itโ€™s a stark reality, and one that Istanbul-based artist UฤŸur GallenkuลŸ attempts to confront throughout his most recent book Parallel Universes of War & Peace. Published on September 21, 2024, in honor of World Peace Day, the book visualizes the disparities between war-torn countries and those at peace, expressed through evocative digital collages.
