One of a dog's favorite treats is peanut butter, but it's definitely not the easiest food to enjoy (as you may know from experience). The paste often sticks to the roof of your mouth and makes a smacking noise as you try to lick it off. For canines, this is no different–a fact that photographer Greg Murray has captured in his delightful series called For the Love of Peanut Butter. In it, dogs of all sizes–from chihuahuas to mutts to great danes and french bulldogs–eat and thoroughly enjoy the beloved snack.
To create these hilarious photos, the pups were given a small spoonful of peanut butter. The portraits capture as they twist their tongues and lick their snouts, trying to devour every last bit of the paste. Oftentimes, Murray captures them in mid-slurp or in intense moments of concentration that showcase the not-so-glamourous side of tasty indulgences.
Although the photographer has built an entire series around this tasty treat, Murray does advise pet owners to be considerate with the amount they give their pups. “Too much of anything, including peanut butter,” he writes, “is not good for dogs…or humans.”
Murray is creating a photo book based on this series. He's currently raising funds for its production on Kickstarter.
