It can be hard for a street artist to stand out in a bustling city like Los Angeles that's filled with amazing graffiti, but 20-year-old Gustavo Fuentes (a.k.a. Flkz) manages to shine with his incredibly unique, eye-catching murals made out of painter's tape. Without the aid of straightedges, stencils, or outlines, Fuentes uses the humble medium to create large-scale works of geometric genius on blank walls in LA.
The striking pieces are stunning in their dizzying intricacy and complex form. Straight lines radiate from sharp corners; rectangular shapes are filled with zig-zags and orderly bars; overlapping strips of tape create subtle dimensions of color depth and gradation. With each mural different from the last, Fuentes' unique graffiti adds a dramatic pop to the street art scene of LA.
