A large stack of shipping containers piled high serves as the foundation for this enormous mural created by street artists Pichi & Avo. The Valencia-based art duo developed the project as part of this year's Rock Werchter Music festival in Belgium.
Belgium artist and event curator Arne Quinze created the stacked structure and then invited the artists to have free reign over the surface. The gorgeously detailed work was created in Pichi & Avo's signature style, which is described on their website as, “hints of surrealism [that] leap out and slap the viewer about while drawing you in to a radiant explosion of unrestrained, spray-painted talent.”
The site-specific installation featured monochromatic figurative paintings of Greek statues set against a striking, boldly colored background. Quinze said, “When they work together they create breathtaking figurative detail and quality. Their work is very striking and always commands the spectator's full attention.”
