In this weekend's art+culture pick of the week, we head to the Great Northwest and find ourselves at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle, Washington. Incorporating pencils and acrylics to create a softly-washed pastel world, Italian artist Nicoletta Ceccoli puts us in a dream-like state in her show “Beauties and Beasts”.
Exploring themes of childhood innocence and the loss of that innocence, her darkly luminous work, while initially seemingly whimsical, contains a deeper edge of melancholy that anchors each piece.
“Beauties and Beasts” runs until August 8th, with the opening reception on Friday, July 24th from 6pm-9pm.
