If you don't believe that some people are just born with a natural gift, then you haven't met Tony Katai. When he was just 13 years old, Tony bought an old Nikon film camera from his friend and started shooting. Now at 18, he's able to take such interesting photos that even Urban Outfitters says he's part of group that is “setting the standard for the Detroit photography scene.”
Take a look for yourself and then tell me that his photos don't remind you of one of today's famous photographer, Ryan McGinley. Both can capture all the emotions that come with youth – including exuberance, optimism, freedom and even confusion – in ways that feel unbelievably authentic.
When asked what drives him, here is what Katai said, “I take photos because I truly love the art. I try to make interesting photos that are pleasing to the eye. I love life and I'm truly thankful to be alive and well!”
