Contemporary painter Eric Zener just sent us these images from his newly released book, Zener. The large, full-color limited edition book shows over 150 beautiful works of art created by Zener from 2000 to 2010. They are accompanied by writings from scholars, critics, fellow artists, poets, collectors and dealers. “It was a wonderful experience to have my work published in this scale and with such a variety of writers collaborating on the project,” the painter tells us. “Viewing my work as curated collection of the last 10 years was an honor, and marked a great milestone as I venture into new subject matter.” You could say that we've been a fan of Zener's work for quite some time. In fact, one of our first posts to ever go viral was titled Eric Zener's Underwater Paintings (Not Photos). The Warholian recently went inside the artist's studio and conducted a short interview with him. Here's my favorite quote, “I believe there is a universal connection to water and a collective desire for renewal and joy,” Zener says. “Regardless of who you are or where you come from we all feel a great sense of ‘transformation' from the world above when we are submerged in the blue water of a pool or the boundless space of the sea. There is something archetypal about the cleansing effect of water and the sense of nostalgia of our youth when we remove ourselves from daily life and slip away.” The book is a keepsake, for sure, and a wonderful place to visit when you need to “immerse” yourself in some art.
