Man Travels Around NYC With Shelter Dogs on His Back To Help Them Get Adopted

According to the nonprofit Best Friends Sanctuary, 4.8 million homeless dogs and cats ended up in shelters across the United States in 2024. Hoping to do his part to help these innocent animals, filmmaker Bryan Reisberg has been taking adoptable dogs on adventures around New York City. These Rescue Elephants Wear Hand-Knitted Sweaters to Keep Warm in the Winter

When winter arrives and temperatures drop, humans aren’t the only ones that need to dress accordingly to keep warm. Endangered Asian elephants at a Wildlife SOS conservation center in northern India have been known to wear beautiful, handmade “sweaters” during wintry weather. The 20 elephants the organization hosts are afflicted by blindness, lameness, or recovering from other maladies. They were rescued from abusive situations like trafficking, circuses, street begging, and other illegal activities.

Turkeys Were ‘Adopted’ Rather Than Eaten in Wholesome Thanksgiving Initiative

Every year, over 40 million turkeys are eaten during Thanksgiving. Hoping to turn things around for at least some of these birds, initiatives have taken a different approach to celebrating this holiday. Rather than being turned into a meal, turkeys across the country were “adopted” by families. It’s not like these birds are being brought into random homes as pets, but rather families donated money to the care of the turkeys throughout their lives.
