Surreal Mixed Media Paintings of Nature Littered with Man-Made Memorabilia

Brooklyn-based artist Lauren Matsumoto explores how humans relate to nature in her Fauna and Flora series, which combines painting, drawing, and collage to symbolize the natural world's perpetual cycles of growth and decay. Each piece portrays an eclectic mix of birds and plant life paired with vintage-inspired memorabilia: chandeliers hang haphazardly from branches, old televisions and typewriters perch between boughs, and antique cameras, shoes, and bicycles burst forth from branches like leaves.

Illustrator and graphic designer Thiago Bianchini reveals a deep reverence for the mystical majesty of the animal kingdom in thousands of intricate ink markings. Inspired by double exposure photography, he uses meticulous patterns of tiny dots to form celestial skies, trees, and mountains within the silhouettes of wild creatures. The dot drawing technique called stippling demands patience and precision, and each piece takes around four hours to complete.

Visually Satisfying Project Shares the Color Palettes of Iconic Film Scenes

Twitter account Cinema Palettes takes screenshots from classic films and translates them to ten-part color palettes. Though based on a momentary still, each spectrum of shades seems to encapsulate its movie's overall mood: the somber, otherworldly blues of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the dreamlike pinks and purples of The Grand Budapest Hotel, the cloyingly pretty pastels of Edward Scissorhands, and the earthly, organic greens and browns of Atonement, for example.
