Jessica Stewart

Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." 14 Artists Transform Saudi Arabian Desert Into a Contemporary Art Oasis

An ancient oasis in Saudi Arabia has been transformed into a contemporary art playground for Desert X AlUla. The event brings together fourteen local and international artists, who have created site-specific installations inspired by the natural surroundings. This type of interactive installation is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and is a spinoff of the Desert X events that happen every two years in California's Coachella Valley.

Breathtaking Winners of the 2019 International Landscape Photographer of the Year Contest

Nearly 850 landscape photographers from around the world submitted their best work to the 2019 International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. The expert panel of judges, which includes last year's winner, narrowed a field of 3,400 images to select the best portfolio and single photograph. In the end, it was Russian photographer Oleg Ershov who took home the top prize for his incredible range of landscape photography from England and Iceland.

One of his most recent trips brought him to Beirut, where he attempted to tell the complicated tale of Lebanon's history through what has been lost. The scars worn on Beirut's ornate buildings are the wounds of different wars, which have raged throughout the city's history.

Bees Create Heart-Shaped Hive, Prove They’re Nature’s Best Architects

If you ever needed evidence that bees were artists, take a look at this incredible photograph posted by Brian Fanner (of Luna Design Company). The South African designer decided to gift his wife with a heart made of honeycomb, so he called on the help of some Cape honey bees. He took a board and added a quick slotted design of a heart and a couple of swirls to help guide them.
