Architects Design a Secluded ‘House in the Forest’ in the Shape of Tree Branches

Located in the woods of Hokkaido, Japan, the House in the Forest provides beautiful views of the natural world by framing perspectives of the surrounding greenery. Florian Busch Architects explain that the design is “not about a fixed form but an everchanging dialogue with the forest.” This narrative was developed for clients who wanted to create a unique natural retreat that would allow them to grow closer to each other and to nature.

Milan Will Welcome a Green Tower That Includes a Floating Greenhouse Bridge

Milan’s Porta Nuova Gioia district will soon have an incredible green tower to add to its skyline. Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) and Stefano Boeri Architetti (SBA) won the competition for Pirelli 39, a mixed-used project designed as part of a larger renovation effort to an existing mixed-use building. Part of the remodeling project includes changes to the existing Pirellino office tower in addition to the architects’ new green residential tower.

This Elusive Green Home Was Designed to Fit Perfectly in the Icelandic Hillside

Nestled in the hills overlooking the Icelandic lake of Þingvallavatn sits a camouflaged home called Thingvallavatn House. This modern abode was designed by architecture firm KRADS as a holiday home for musicians Tina Dickow and Helgi Hrafn Jónsson. To help blend the building into the natural site, the architects designed green roofs for each of the three built volumes and completed the facades in black wood panels.
