Sara Barnes is a Staff Editor at My Modern Met, Manager of My Modern Met Store, and co-host of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. As an illustrator and writer living in Seattle, she chronicles illustration, embroidery, and beyond through her blog Brown Paper Bag and Instagram @brwnpaperbag. She wrote a book about embroidery artist Sarah K. Benning titled "Embroidered Life" that was published by Chronicle Books in 2019. Sara is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. She earned her BFA in Illustration in 2008 and MFA in Illustration Practice in 2013.

Artist Reimagines Famous Artwork from the Past as Exquisite Hyperrealistic Portraits

Artist Joongwon Jeong puts a hyperrealistic twist on iconic artwork and famous people from the past. He's brought new life, for instance, to both Michelangelo’s God and Adam that appeared in the celebrated Sistine Chapel fresco. The two subjects, reimagined with Jeong's masterful painting skills, look like they could be photographs. He showcases fine wrinkles and sunspots on the skin and hair that you could run your fingers through.

Amazing Collection of Michelangelo Drawings Is Now in the U.S. For the First Time

A trove of rare Michelangelo drawings is now in the United States for the first time. On loan from the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the Netherlands, the amazing cache features 25 individual sheets, nearly all of which contain artwork on both sides of the page. They go well beyond doodles, though. The collection, originating from the Queen Christina of Sweden, includes the likes of preparatory drawings for the Sistine Chapel.

Gravity-Defying Photos of Determined Dogs Catching Frisbees in Mid-Air

Photographer Claudio Piccoli makes otherwise ordinary pups look like superheroes. In his mesmerizing series called Dogs in Action, four-legged friends soar through the sky like Superman. They make the greatest leaps and bounds with ease—and often while having their eyes trained on catching a colorful frisbee. Piccoli's frozen moments in time remind us that dogs, in addition to being loyal companions, are incredible athletes, too.
