Can a Cruise With a $40,000 Price Tag Be the Ultimate Experience?

At the end of December 2009, Silversea Cruises, a high end luxury cruise line, will debut a new addition to their fleet, the Silver Spirit. With one of the highest space-to guest ratios, she will accommodate only 540 guests in ultimate style and comfort. Silversea promises about a one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio so you can expect only the highest level of service. We better for that price tag! The 91-day voyage around South America will begin on Jan. 21, 2010 in Fort Lauderdale. It will follow a southerly course to Rio de Janiero and Buenos Aires before “rounding the Horn” to the western side of South America. The ship then will loop through the Panama Canal for an almost complete circumnavigation of the continent. So what exactly does $40K get you? Besides visiting 45 ports in 20 countries around South America, this all inclusive trip will keep the champagne flowing, offering bubbly and wine throughout the rooms and decks. You won't ever be expected to sit next to strangers, since there's no assigned dining time, and no assigned table. In fact, when, where and with whom you dine is up to you! Better yet, a formal dinner served course-by-course, a late-night snack, or a full breakfast can even be delivered to your room with no charge and no tipping. They even will take you on a “shoreside event exclusively for Silversea guests on select voyages. Recent outings have included dinner in the desert in Namibia and a concert at the ruins of Ephesus.” Talk about experiences.
