Architects Convert an Old Abandoned Barn in Iceland Into a Beautiful Artist’s Studio

Architecture firm Bua Studio recently completed a stunning adaptive reuse of a dilapidated barn in Iceland, transforming the structure into an artist’s studio and residence. Titled Hloduberg Artist’s Studio, the project includes work spaces on the lower level and the residence above. The architects carefully worked with the barn’s original structure to protect the fragile walls in a garden and utilize other portions as a façade for the new building.

Daring ‘Oasis House’ Concept Has a Massive Pool Perched on a Desert Mountain

A daring residential concept called Oasis House imagines a home cantilevering from desert rock. Designed by Omar Hakim, the structure is visualized as two distinct volumes primarily comprising glass to preserve the unobstructed views of the Wadi Al Disah in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. If just admiring the landscape from this elevated home wasn’t enough, Hakim also designed a large swimming pool for one part of it.

Mirrored Cabin Reflects the Surrounding Landscape to Perfectly Blend in With Scenery

Located in the slopes of Mexico's Los Picachos highlands is Casa Etérea, a serene off-grid home that combines aesthetics with sustainable design. The mirrored façade of the building allows it to disappear into the terrain, creating the impression that the structure was “birthed from the mountain itself.” Interestingly, the creator of this work is not a licensed architect and nor are his six collaborators.
