Architects Transform a Frank Lloyd Wright-Style Villa Into a Chic Tokyo Hotel

If you love architecture or design history, this new Japanese hotel is the perfect place to stay while exploring Tokyo. KAMIYA ARCHITECTS has recently completed a renovation of Hayami Kachi house, a Prairie-style home designed by Arata Endo, a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright. The Prairie style is considered to be the first-ever American style of architecture and can be found throughout the U.S. and in scattered buildings around the world.

This Unique Hokkaido Retreat Was Designed Using an Algorithm

This retreat in Hokkaido, Japan is unlike any cabin in the woods you have ever seen. Laboratory for Explorative Architecture & Design, or LEAD, designed YEZO as an architectural experiment in fabrication and sustainability. The project is defined by an elegantly curving roof with a wooden underbelly of structural members that are suspended from the chimney. Although beautiful, this impressive design move is more than just a pretty roof.
