Women in fantasy art and film are still vastly underrepresented, especially characters that embody diversity. Artist Yael Nathan seeks to change this. She’s created an illustrated series of powerful women warriors that represent many shapes, sizes, and skin colors. Female heroines are often depicted as young, physically fit, and attractive (by society's standards).

Artist Spends 113 Days Covering a Wall in Her Home With Doodles About Life During COVID-19 Quarantine

An artist named Viktorija, working under the name artistVik, embarked on a creative odyssey while in COVID-19 quarantine. Known for creating charming greeting cards and ceramics, Viktorija switched up her routine by grabbing a paintbrush and pen to doodle on a wall in her home. The tiny drawings became a daily ritual for her, and the project lasted 113 days—the length of time it took her to completely fill the wall with miniature artwork.

Illustrator Reimagines His Favorite Movies as Classic Paperback Books

Designer and illustrator Matt Stevens has designed for magazines and media companies, but his recent project titled Good Movies as Old Books is more personal. Stevens transformed one hundred of his favorite films into colorful and worn book covers—some complete with price tags, as if you could pick them up off the shelves of a used bookstore. Each reimagined paperback's title and author is represented by the movie's respective title and director.

Get to Know Sir John Tenniel, the Prolific Illustrator Behind ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’

Nothing beats a good story—except, perhaps, one that is accompanied by beautiful drawings. Sir John Tenniel was one artist who created compelling illustrations during the 20th century. Working during the Victorian era, Tenniel spent 50 years as a political cartoonist for Punch magazine. He produced around 2,000 cartoons for the publication, but it was his illustrations for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass that made him a household name.
