Organized Rows of Gold-Coated Popcorn Hang Overhead

This puffy white popcorn is certainly not for snacking! LA-based Pae White is a multimedia artist who blends art, design, and architecture into a variety of captivating creations. In this piece, she created tiny porcelain, gold-glazed kernels that were installed as part of multiple shows throughout 2011. In each installation, she attached popcorn pieces to thin wires hanging down from the ceiling.

Incredible Charcoal Drawings Textured with Scalpel Blades and Sandpaper

Scottish artist Douglas McDougall creates fantastically photorealistic drawings using charcoal as his primary medium but then he textures each work using scalpel blades, sharply cut erasers and coarse sandpaper. The detail to each piece is mind-blowing, especially when it comes to facial hair and weathered skin. What effect does scratching the artwork create?

Shaping Fire Into Artistic Forms

Rob Prideaux has created a fantastic series entitled Smoke & Fire. The body of work originated after Prideaux was unable to find a suitable fire image for a project he was working on. Each of his scenes features bright bursts of fire captured against a stark white background. The photos were taken in the split second they were visible before vanishing, and then were slightly touched up.
