Powerfully Moving Brush Strokes

UK-based contemporary painter Paul Wright creates incredibly intimate, yet somewhat abstract, oil paintings that draw the viewer in. His work focuses primarily on people and faces, but he occasionally ventures off to depict clothing and objects to reflect the people who own them. Wright captures the essence of his characters. Each artwork has its own emotional expression attached to it. Without divulging too much, each painting displays recognizable subjects.

Boundary-Breaking Art

Japanese award winning artist Yuki Matsueda certainly knows how to think outside-of-the-box. His art, featuring everyday objects, look as though parts of them are attempting to break free! Egg yolk, puzzle pieces and the suits of playing cards are no match for the artist who retains ultimate control.I enjoy how there's a sense of movement to each piece. While simple, Matsueda's art is certainly original and interesting.

Transparent Steel Church

Architects Pieterjan Gijs and Arnout Van Vaerenbergh, partners behind the firm Gijis Van Vaernbergh, are in the process of installing their newest creations all around the Netherlands. It's a series of 34 ft. tall steel churches, each made out of 100 stacked layers of steel and 2000 steel column plates. The project is entitled “Reading between the Lines.” As one changes their perspective, the church becomes more solid one way and less solid the other.

Reconstructing Reality in a Big Way

Believe it or not, artist Petros Chrisostomou works on a small scale. Looking at photo of his installations, you'd think he recreated everyday objects in a substantially larger size, enough to fill a room. You'd be half-right. His objects fill a room, but the space is considerably smaller than you'd imagine. In fact, they are model-sized replicas of rooms constructed by the artist.
