100 Artists Were Invited to Paint an Entire School Before Its Renovation

Over the course of three weeks, 100 artists were given free reign to take over a dormitory in Paris, making it their canvas. As part of the Rehab 2 festival, the graffiti artists were invited to paint the interior of a student residence at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris. The space was then open to the public for one month prior to renovation works, which will wipe out the artwork.

Street Artist’s “Neo Post Cubism” Graffiti Combines Cubism with Realism

Spanish street artist Miguel Ángel Belinchón—better known as Belin—creates hyperrealistic portraits with a cubist twist. Inspired by the deconstructed forms and expressive portraits of Pablo Picasso, Belin describes his avant-garde style as Neo Post Cubism, a term he has coined and continues to experiment with. Belin's peculiar portraits are rooted in reality yet stylistically surreal. While the features of each subject are lifelike and rendered in astounding detail, they are arranged in a fractured and frantic manner.

Small Village in Italy is Using Street Art to Fight Against Depopulation

With one in seven inhabitants leaving Italy's small villages for prospects elsewhere, it's estimated that one-third of the country's villages are at risk of depopulation. One such town, Civitacampomarano, spurred on by what started as a strange coincidence, is using art to turn around the tide of abandonment that is washing over it. In 2014, Ylenia Carelli, president of Civitacampomarano's cultural organization, saw an interview with Italian street artist Alice Pasquini on television.

Artist Creates Giant Murals and Destroys Them Himself Before Anyone Else Does

Continuing down the path he started with Empty, Australian street artist Rone is back with a new series of impressive murals in an abandoned factory just outside of Melbourne. The Alpha Project, in which Rone painted large-scale female portraits in an old paper mill set for demolition, pushes him deeper into researching the ephemeral roots of street art. More than ever, street artists rely on video and photographic documentation as the final testimony of their work.
