Majestic Wooden Tables Handcrafted With Tiny Mountainscapes on Top

In a bid to bring the beauty of nature indoors, furniture designers Benoit Vauthier and Manu Lerendu create one-of-a-kind tables that pay homage to the breathtaking landscapes of America and Europe. Using traditional sculpting tools, they transform wooden surfaces into sculptural, relief table tops that look like little mountain ranges. In 2012, Vauthier and Lerendu met on the benches of the Quebec Cabinetmaking Institute and hit it off right away.

When pipe-carving artist Max (of Radon Weber) began making a Terminator-inspired pipe for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s birthday, he never would have guessed that his creation would actually end up in his icon’s hands. However, that’s exactly what happened. The talented woodworker posted photos of his incredibly intricate pipe on Reddit, where the 73-year-old actor and former Governor of California found it and left a comment, asking to buy it.

3D Laser Cut Wood Maps Show Hidden Underwater World

Robbie and Kara Johnson are the husband and wife team behind Below the Boat, a company that creates gorgeous wood maps that show the hidden world underneath the water. Using the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (or NOAA) charts, they study the bathymetry (which is the underwater equivalent of topography) of lakes, rivers and oceans. Laser cutters are used to slice one sheet of birch plywood into 8 to 10 pieces.
