Architects Design Spiraling Glass Home Overlooking China’s Paddy Fields

This contemporary home concept, designed by Adriano Design and visualized by Truetopia, provides dramatic views of the surrounding rice paddy fields from far above the landscape. Fittingly title House on the Rice Paddy, this conceptual design imagines a mostly transparent home that frames views of the rice paddy fields and lagoons of Xianggong, China. The design studio explains that their project was highly motivated by new advancements in vertical circulation, specifically elevators.

This Elusive Green Home Was Designed to Fit Perfectly in the Icelandic Hillside

Nestled in the hills overlooking the Icelandic lake of Þingvallavatn sits a camouflaged home called Thingvallavatn House. This modern abode was designed by architecture firm KRADS as a holiday home for musicians Tina Dickow and Helgi Hrafn Jónsson. To help blend the building into the natural site, the architects designed green roofs for each of the three built volumes and completed the facades in black wood panels.

Conceptual ‘Black Villa’ Offers Unexpected Drama To a New York Forest

Architect Reza Mohtashami has designed a conceptual Black Villa in Harriman State Park, New York. The single-family home was announced through a series of architectural renderings that depict the interior and exterior of the villa. When asked about his design process on the project, Mohtashami explained that the dark palette was an important concept. “Black is very vague,” he says. “Black means power and has a high character and prestige.
