Disney Is Developing Its Own Residential Communities You Can Live In All Year Round

Disney Storyliving

If you've ever visited Disneyland and felt like you could live forever in its pristine, family-friendly environment, you now have the chance to do just that. Storyliving by Disney is designing vibrant communities “infused with [Disney's] special brand of magic.”  Run by the company's theme-park division, these residential communities will incorporate the world-class hospitality that Disney is known for.

“Picture an energetic community with the warmth and charm of a small town and the beauty of a resort,” explains Helen Pak, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products exec. Disney's vision is to give people the opportunity to live the best of both worlds. For instance, the community association will be run by Disney cast members trained to provide top-notch service. And, through a members club, there will be curated experiences in wellness and entertainment, as well as enriching seminars.

Storyliving by Disney was created with the idea to build multiple communities, including some for those 55 years old and over. The first community on the horizon, which is called Cotino, is in Rancho Mirage, California. Located in the Coachella Valley, where Walt Disney had his own retreat, it will have 1,900 homes.

Disney has said that there will be a range of residences to choose from, including condominiums and single-family homes. The entire community will be centered around a 24-acre oasis with a promenade area. There will also be a beach area with water activities available to club members. In addition, Storyliving by Disney has been approved to build a hotel as well as shopping options, restaurants, and entertainment offerings.

Disney will be working with expert real-estate developers and builders to bring Cotino to life. And while there is no word on when it will be ready, it's possible to sign up on the Storyliving website to receive updates. If all goes well, plan to see more Disney-run residential communities popping up across the United States.

Storyliving by Disney plans to build residential communities infused with “Disney magic.”
