Street Artist Turns Rundown Walls Into Incredible 3D Graffiti Art

Wielding his spray can like a weapon, French street artist Scaf slices across city walls and transforms them into something magical with his trompe l'oeil graffiti. His creatures, which range from ferocious dinosaurs to snakes and skeletons, seem to emerge from two-dimensional surfaces to take over their environment. The work is made that much better by the whimsical photographs that Scaf takes of each piece.

Portuguese graffiti artist Vile wields his spray cans like a laser cutter, expertly “carving” his name into concrete and stone. His amazing technical abilities allow him to create stunning optical illusions whereby his name appears as a window cut into the side of a wall. Vile has been painting graffiti since he was a teenager and honed his artistic skills via coursework in animation and illustration.

When “digital media toolsmith” Øyvind Kolås posted his latest visual experiment to Patreon, little did he know that he'd get the internet buzzing. Kolås seemingly transformed a black and white photograph into full color with a simple trick to fool the eye. By placing an over-saturated color grid over a black and white image, he plays with the concept of color assimilation.
