Researchers Discover New Optical Illusion Called ‘Curvature Blindness’

Japanese researcher and psychologist Kohske Takahashi of Chukyo University has recently discovered a new, mind-boggling type of optical illusion. Published in SAGE’s open-access i-Perception journal, the new discovery was dubbed the Curvature Blindness Illusion, and describes how a wavy line can be perceived as a zigzag line. In the image above, we see pairs of wavy lines and pairs of zigzag lines against a gray background.

Alluring Illusions of Technicolor Portals Are Actually 2D Wall Paintings

We already know German artist 1010 for his vivid murals, which appear like multilayered, technicolor portals into parallel dimensions. Now, he has opened a new show at Milan's 10 A.M. ART gallery, with an exhibition that includes not only a mural across the building's entire exterior in his hallmark style, but also a collection of paintings displayed inside. Though smaller in scale than his street art, these new works might be even more remarkable.

This series, entitled Painted Stripes, features two photographs that will have viewers automatically assuming digital manipulation. However, in reality, Morgan actually painted each set in order to challenge his viewer's typical understanding of space.
