2023 Minimalist Photography Awards Celebrate the Beauty of Simplicity

There is something about minimalism, when executed correctly, that is soothing. By stripping away unnecessary details, creators who work with a minimalist aesthetic bring a balance and harmony to their work that makes them pleasurable to view. And this is what the Minimalist Photography Awards celebrates. Organized by B&W Minimalist Magazine, the awards are a showcase for global photography talent. This year's contest, which drew photographers from 31 countries, saw over 3,100 entries.

Spectacular Winners of the 2023 reFocus Awards Capture Diverse Images of the World

Though it was only established last year, the reFocus Awards has already proven to be a stunning showcase of global photography talent. Honoring both professional and non-professional photographers, the inaugural reFocus Awards shows the depth of the organization's photographic community. Thai photographer Jatenipat Ketpradit won the title of International Photographer of the Year for his incredible series of photographs showing the “Mudmen” of Papua New Guinea's Asaro tribe.

Photographer Spent Eight Years Capturing Life on the Gritty New York Subway in the 1970s and 1980s

Over the course of eight years, Swiss photographer Willy Spiller documented life on the New York City subway. From 1977 until 1984, Spiller amassed nearly 2,000 images of the subway. And in doing so, he was able to create a visual time capsule of this critical moment in the city's history. His collection, called Hell on Wheels, is a highly sought-after visual that shows the good and bad of the era.
