Japanese Scientists May Have Found a Way To Eliminate Chromosome Linked to Down Syndrome

Every year, about 5,700 babies are born with Down syndrome in the United States, making it the most common chromosomal abnormality. The genetic condition is caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21, also called trisomy 21, resulting in developmental, physical, and cognitive differences, including everything from hearing loss and congenital heart defects to learning and speech difficulties.
