Over the past 5 years, Mark Mervai has attempted to collect photographs that display the true beauty of his home town Budapest, Hungary. The reason this project has taken so long to complete is due to Mervai's dedication in seeking out the perfect lighting for each one of his shots. His series sweeps through sunrise and sunsets, catching the city as it wakes up, and again as it slowly settles into the evening. Mervai's patience and quest for the ideal conditions has resulted in a collection of vibrant images that illuminate the beauty of Budapest.
For Mervai, “the most beautiful moment is when the sun comes up [over] the horizon and the day begins with a couple of colourful minutes. Also the last lights of the day for [him] symbolize a special moment, a ‘thank you' from nature for a beautiful day.” His series of amazingly colourful shots capture the grace of Budapest's architecture and the sweeping expanse of its horizon. Mervai's work is an homage to the beauty of nature, each day a gift that his photography aims to celebrate.
