Instagrammer Shares Adventures Through the Tasty Treats She Eats Around the World

Food is a tasty way to experience the world. When traveling, it offers a sampling of local culture–not only of its palette, but its dining customs, too. Melissa Hie incorporates this delicious form of sightseeing into her popular Instagram account called Girl Eat World. Each photo in her feed follows the same format: a hand displays a tasty treat in front of the backdrop from which it was bought. The resulting images are both mouthwatering and clever ways to enjoy different landscapes across the globe.

Travel is a high priority for Hie, and she started her adventures in 2009 after a solo move to Singapore. In 2010, she went on a short trip to Thailand and was officially hooked on visiting new places. Girl Eat World started a few years later, once she trekked across Europe alone. “During the trip, I had the chance to taste many delicious food from the countries I visited, which is Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Belgium,” Hie explained to Bored Panda. “However I had no one to share it with so I ended up taking pictures of the food with the amazing European backdrop at whatever place I was having it.”

Although the Girl Eat World Instagram is full of Hie's wanderlust-inducing photos, she also accepts submissions and posts them to her feed. To share you own tasty adventures with her community, simply tag them with #GirlEatWorld.
