For his Madrid-based series, Funnycross and Funnycross II, Guelov uses bold colors and striking geometric designs to turn simple crosswalks into playful interactive street art.

Complex Web of Red Thread Swarms Above Stranded Boats as a Meditation on Fate

Artist Chiharu Shiota is known for her intricate, immersive installations that are meditations on the human brain and memory. Last year, she illustrated this idea by collecting 50,000 keys and stringing them along thread that engulfed the ceiling of a gallery. In a similarly awe-inspiring fashion, Shiota has created Uncertain Journey, a site-specific exhibition in which a dense web of scarlet-colored yarn swarms above stranded skeletal boats.

Buddhist Monk’s Footprints Are Naturally Ingrained in Wood Floor From Praying in Same Spot for 20 Years

For over 20 years, a Buddhist monk named Hua Chi has been praying in the same spot at his temple in Tongren, China—and it shows. After two decades and up to 3,000 prayers per day, his footprints are ingrained in the wood floor, highlighting his incredible devotion to his spiritual practice. The deepest part of the footprints measure 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) and are a cast of the balls of his feet.
