Artist Transforms Driftwood Into Fantastical Sculptures That Look Like Spirits of Nature

Artist Debra Bernier creates fanciful sculptures from the nature that surrounds her in Victoria, Canada. Working with driftwood, Bernier studies the shape and form of each piece, carefully carving out or adding to the natural material to form these delicate, feminine figures. “When I work with driftwood, I never start with a blank canvas. Each piece of driftwood is already a sculpture, created by the caresses of the waves and wind,” Debra shares.

Man Transforms Car Accident Dent Into a Beautiful Work of Art

For example, this beautiful mountainous landscape on the side of a car has quite the hidden history. The owner of this vehicle was traveling through the Altai region of Russia when his car was hit by a larger truck. No one was hurt, but the damages included a large dent on the driver's door.

Macro Photos Capture the Dazzling “Mirror Spider” with Its Changing Mosaic of Reflective Panels

For the past several years, Nicky Bay has carefully observed the dazzlingly odd-looking arthropod known as the “mirror spider” (scientifically: “Thwaitesia argentiopunctata”). The Singapore-based photographer has concentrated his macro lens on this small creature whose midsection is cloaked in silvery, mosaic-like panels that reflect light. From certain angles, it looks like it’s wearing fabulous, tiny sequins. Thanks to Bay’s continued documentation, he has noticed that their appearance changes depending on the environmental circumstances.
