6,000-Year-Old Hollowed Out Tree is a Bar Inside

Nature is often the inspiration for architecture and design. We've even seen our fair share of fully functional tree houses, but in South Africa there is an entirely unique, hollowed out tree called Sunland Big Baobab that has actually been converted into a bar. According to the pub's website, the venue is the widest documented baobab (a type of tree normally found in the hot, dry savannas of sub-Saharan Africa)

Mountain Landscape Carved Into Encyclopedia Britannica

Book sculptor Guy Laramee pays homage to the printed version of the Encyclopedia Britannica by carving into a 24-volume set of the informative series of books for his latest piece titled Adieu. With the physical publication of the encyclopedias coming to a halt after 244 years of printing the educational text, Larame decided to bid the obsolete medium farewell in his signature way. The Quebec-based artist's ambitious book sculpture depicts an earthy, textured landscape.

Old Water Tower Converted into a Beautiful Modern Home

Architect Mauro Brigham of Bham Design Studio has repurposed an old water tower in Belgium, simply known as Chateau d'eau, into a livable home. The 30-meter-high tower, which was first constructed sometime between 1938 and 1941, has been transformed into a high-tech, modern residence that offers all the amenities of a typical house, from a bedroom and bathroom, to storage space and a panoramic terrace.

Mesmerizing Wall Collages Made of Paper and Plastic Cups

New York-based artist Lisa Hoke creates colorful wall collages out of an assortment of disposable items. Working extensively with paper and plastic cups, the artist installs each of her multilayered murals in eye-catching patterns. She playfully transforms each room into a magnificent spectacle full of snake-like formations of multihued cups as well as flattened cereal boxes and various candy wrappers.
