This Year’s Ice Hotel in Sweden Recreates Frankenstein’s Lab

Christian Strmqvist and Karl-Johan Ekeroth of PINPIN Studio have developed a brand new room for the famed ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjrvi, Sweden called It's Alive! The room, made entirely out of ice and snow, is designed in the likeness of a mad scientist's laboratory la Frankenstein. Being their third venture in creating an ice room, the duo have maintained their sense of whimsy, allowing guests to playfully imagine their own scenario in the space.

Walking in Mountains of Foam That Looks Like Clouds

Foam is a spectacular installation by Japanese artist Kohei Nawa that transforms a room into a magical scene, making it seem as though visitors are walking up on the clouds. Unveiled at the Aichi Triennale 2013, the artist's piece offers a dreamy landscape in an otherwise pitch-black room. The Osaka-born, Kyoto-based artist creatively transports viewers to an alternate universe without ever having to physically move them.

MMM Exclusive: Experiencing Jaume Plensa’s "Wonderland"

When I visited Calgary earlier this year to cover Beakerhead, I had the pleasure of walking around the city with an extremely talented photographer, Neil Zeller. When we approached Calgary's tallest tower, The Bow, this amazing sculpture by Jaume Plensa named Wonderland immediately caught my attention. What stood out most was how remarkable it looked from several distinct angles. The wire mesh piece stands 39-feet-high and resembles a young girl's head.
