Mysteriously Surreal Charcoal Drawings

Vronique La Perrire M.'s charcoal drawings are surreal and almost a bit creepy, yet one can't help but to continue to look at them and wonder what's going on. La Perrire describes her art by saying, “My artistic practice is choreographed around questions that relate to memory, perception and identity. Ji Lee Cleverly Turns Words into Images

Started 20 years ago as an assignment in his typography class at art school, the project asks us to play right along with him and see if we can contort letters inside words to come up with some clever images ourselves.

6 Million Matches and 16 Years of Life

Think you have the time, dedication and patience to create an artwork like this? First, try and comprehend these numbers. 6 million matches. 16 years of life. Bulgarian artist Plamen Ignatov used that many matches and spent that much time to create this impressive miniature model of the Rila Monastery. Made of wood, matches and gems, it's now on display at the Museum of Archaeological in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Sweet Idea: Rothko-Inspired Cookies

It's not often you see a “sweet” art tribute like this. Mimi O. Chun, design director of General Assembly, recently created these Rothko-inspired cookies that have his signature “multiform” style (or blocks of varied colors). Chun posted the picture of her cookies on Instagram with the description “Rothko tribute” and the image has since started making its way around the web. Many are even urging her to make a full series.
