On March 18, the 9th edition of the international art fair Art Dubai opens to the public and one of the highlights will be this surreal forest sprouting from a wall by artist Pascale Marthine Tayou. Galleria Continua, who represents Tayou, is just one of 92 modern and contemporary galleries from 40 countries that will showcase the works of 500 artists. The fair opens the day after Art Basel Hong Kong ends and runs for four days.
Called Plastic Tree C, this contemporary art installation shows a withered landscape made of branches and colorful plastic bags. Many have interpreted the work as a commentary on the state of our ecosystem.
This is not the first time we've shown you the work of the Cameroon-based artist. He's also behind that gigantic colored pencils installation that was a part of the Echigo-Tsumari festival in Japan.
