With nature as her muse, artist Silver Francis imagines the world in ways that are both familiar and flowing. Her colorful landscape and floral oil paintings feature stylized renderings of mountainscapes, waterways, plants, and rock formations, often infused with a bit of magic. Warmth emanates from larger-than-life forms and illuminates delicate petals, flapping butterfly wings, and the inner depths of twisted tree branches. They become beacons, symbolizing life and hope, that the answers we seek come from within—whether that’s ourselves or existing within Mother Nature and her wisdom.
Francis’ work has a distinct aesthetic. Each form is composed of visible brushstrokes that guide our eye along the solid-form bases. She has a name for this style. “Over years of experimentation,” Francis writes, “I’ve developed a unique style of contemporary impressionism in which textured strokes of paint flow seamlessly into one another. I call this technique ‘fluid impressionism,’ as I allow the shape and movement of my subjects to inspire how each stroke moves into the next.”
With a luxurious surface texture, gorgeous color palettes, and exquisite imagery, it’s no surprise that Francis has gained many fans over her 20 years of experimentation, study, and experience in painting.
