A Spanish art director based in Amsterdam, Diego Arroyo spends his free time traveling the world, taking pictures wherever he goes. He's been pursuing photography as a hobby for over 12 years now and, as you can see, he's found a beautiful style that's reminiscent of our all-time favorite photographer, Steve McCurry.
In fact, when we asked Arroyo to name a few photographers he took inspiration from, we weren't surprised that McCurry made the list. (The list also included Sebastiao Salgado and Gregory Colbert). On a recent trip, while traveling through Thailand and Vietnam, Arroyo used his camera to snap some incredibly stunning portraits of strangers on the street. Notice the way he can capture a story in a person's face. While most of us might miss those split second moments, Arroyo finds and captures the magic in them.
“My favourite subject is travel photography and I guess my main goal is trying to catch those expressions we can all relate to…the essence that makes us all the same,” he says. “Life is full of small, subtle moments. My challenge is to try and catch that underlying magic that deserves to be seen and usually remains unnoticeable.”
