Happy Halloween! In honor of the annual celebration of goblins, ghosts, and ghouls–and as an alternative to the princess or superhero idea–here are a few quirky costume concepts that creative enthusiasts could pull together last minute with just a few props and a love of art history.
Concocted by the Oh Happy Day party and lifestyle blog based in San Francisco, these three creative ensembles are a simple and classic shout out to the very well known artists, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, and Vincent Van Gogh. The costumes feature the artists' signature identifiers, including Warhol's all black outfits and tomato soup cans; Kahlo's unibrow; and Van Gogh's red beard and bandaged left ear.
The project was a collaborative effort and contributors included photography by Aubrey Trinnaman, materials photography by Paul Ferney, art direction by Jordan Ferney, production by Ashley Rose Kirschling, crafting and calligraphy by Julie Manwaring, typography by Angela Hardison, and of course the adorable modeling of our little nameless friends, T, H, and M.
