San Francisco-based architect, artist, and mother Tiffanie Turner hand-crafts impressively large flowers out of delicate pieces of crepe paper. She cuts, stretches, and meticulously assembles the layers of colorful paper together until the beautiful blossoms have grown and emerged right before her eyes.
With great precision and patience, the artist is able to mimic the natural beauty and elegant symmetry of a real bloom. “The exploration of scale plays heavily into everything I do, and the organized chaos and rhythms in nature make the heads of flowers an excellent case study for me,” she explains.
The paper flowers are enormous, ranging from 2 to 3 feet in diameter, and can take anywhere from 35 to 80 hours to complete. Her current show, Heads, is on exhibit at Rare Device, a storefront and gallery located in San Francisco. The stunning work will be on display from now through May 28, 2014.
