Since 1985, MTA Arts & Design has furthered this ambition, commissioning stunning artworks that decorate subway stations across New York.

20,000 Hand-Painted Tiles Form World’s Largest Hangeul Wall

Renowned artist Ik-Joong Kang has created the world's largest Hangeul Wall as a way to connect the thoughts and experiences of people around the world. Made from 20,000 hand-painted tiles, the immense installation is on view at the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY). The piece was created in conjunction with a 40-year retrospective exhibition, We Are Connected.
