Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about street artist 1010. However, one thing is for certain: he knows how to turn heads. For over a decade now, the Hamburg-based artist has wowed us with his eye-catching public art and unique, portal-inspired paper creations. Now, he continues to showcase his mesmerizing murals on the sides of otherwise unassuming buildings.
Like his past creations, his newer, large-scale wall pieces employ a trompe-l’oeil technique to suggest three-dimensionality. Each spray-painted work of art is comprised of multi-colored, concentric layers that appear to recede into another dimension. Irregularly shaped and often appearing in groups, the pieces make the walls look like they have ruptured while simultaneously beautifying the blank surfaces with vivid pops of color and striking organic designs.
Recently, the artist's work has popped up in San Francisco, Miami, and Dubai. To find a 1010 mural or gallery exhibition near you, be sure to check the artist’s colorful Facebook page.
